Restoring the Truth
On October 22nd, 2025, we sent out our first mass campaign email of this election season (excerpt below). In it, we touted the $6 million raised for the renovation project through Jon’s vigorous fundraising strategy, personal outreach, and collaboration across successive development teams.
Two days later, the League’s executive director emailed the membership to clarify that the email we sent was not a League-affiliated email (we appreciated the clarification for anyone who was confused by this). But, the director also claimed that we “incorrectly stated that a candidate secured a $6 million in funding for the League. This claim is simply not the case.” (excerpt below). The facts say otherwise.
While this fundraising work was ongoing, Jon provided regular updates to the board on progress, advised on best practices, and received acknowledgement from the board, as reflected in approved board meeting minutes. The executive director himself acknowledged this work at the time. Jon even included mention of these efforts when he was running for reelection in 2024, which could still be seen on the League’s website as recently as last month. These are just the publicly-available acknowledgements - there is much more out there that supports our assertions.
We can’t be certain what prompted the director’s statement. If his intention was simply to acknowledge the important contributions of the League’s development staff - past and present - we would welcome that. In that case, a brief public clarification would resolve this quickly and appropriately.
Without that clarification, Jon - and by extension our campaign - risks being seen as having deliberately misled members, which harms his personal and professional reputation and undermines confidence in this election. We hope this provides the clarity needed so members can focus on evaluating the candidates fairly and accurately.
