Our Campaign

  • Our team brings decades of combined leadership across:

    • Nonprofit governance

    • Art world management

    • Education

    • Community building

    • Fundraising

    • Long-term strategic planning

    • Legal training

    • Media strategy

We understand how organizations thrive - through transparency, financial responsibility, and putting the needs of their members first.

  • We are guided by:

    • Responsibility - making careful, informed decisions

    • Integrity - acting transparently and consistently

    • Community - supporting students, instructors, and staff

    • Accessibility - keeping the League open and welcoming

    • Growth - ensuring the League remains strong for future generations

These values shape every part of our vision for the League.

  • No. We believe a healthy Board is one where many diverse voices contribute, not where a single group dominates.

If elected, we will work collaboratively with the full Board, respect the League’s constitutional checks and balances, and make decisions through open, transparent discussion. For any board vacancies, we plan to send a request to the entire membership calling for resumes and will appoint a special board committee to assess potential appointees.

Our goal is balanced, thoughtful leadership. Any suggestion otherwise is simply dirty politics.

  • We believe the League must grow to remain strong. Our priorities include:

    • Expanding outreach to new students

    • Strengthening youth and pre-college programs

    • Offering more diverse and accessible classes

    • Building opportunities that raise the League’s public profile

    • Ensuring responsible budget management that protects affordability

Growth is the best path to sustainability - not higher tuition or increased financial strain.

  • We want the League to feel vibrant and connected. That means more:

    • Student artwork critiques

    • Art sales

    • Open studios

    • Workshops

    • Community exhibitions

    • Mentorship opportunities

These are low-cost, high-impact initiatives that build visibility, foster community, and support student success.

For voters

  • Active members of the Art Students League are eligible to vote in Board of Control elections. Note that being a student enrolled in classes is not the same as being a member of the League. Visit the League’s website for additional resources on the process for becoming a member and questions about membership standing and voting status.

  • Eligible voters will have a choice of three ways to vote this election season: by mail-in ballot that will be sent out to members’ addresses on file, by electronic voting via personalized links sent to members’ emails on file, or by attending the next Members Business Meeting on December 17th.

Members should have received their electronic ballots on Monday, Nov. 17th. Mailed ballots are expected to go out to voters shortly thereafter. Remember that the last ballot you cast is the one that counts.

If you did not receive your ballot, please let us know.

  • You can find information on Sandra, Jon, and Hsien on our Meet the Candidates page.

In past elections, the League has published on its website a “Meet the Candidates” page with all individuals running for the board (you can see the 2024 page archived here). This year, no such page has been made available to members.

  • Sandra, Jon, and Hsien are excited to bring their vision directly to members during this campaign. This includes at the official Meet the Candidates event that will be held in-person at the League:

You can also send us an email at the contact information at the bottom of this page for all scheduling requests.
